Church Plant Update: October 2016

As I write this post, we are three weeks away from our very first Sunday at Pine Hills City Church. Our launch date is November 13, and we'll be meeting at the City Life Center right next to South Side High School. I'm so thankful that God provided this location for us to meet. The City Life Center is a ministry of Youth For Christ. I've had the privilege of getting to know Chip Clark and some of the team who work with him. The ministry they are doing in the city is so important. I'm excited that they are willing to let us use their facility on Sundays for our church, but I'm even more excited about the partnership opportunities this will create for both of us. This is a huge answer to the prayers so many of you have been praying on our behalf!

Another amazing answer to prayer is the "baby shower" Pine Hills threw for our "baby church." To date, we have raised over $50,000 to help us purchase portable church gear including sound equipment, staging, lighting, chairs, children's ministry equipment, lots of other gear, and a trailer to haul it in. We'll be completely portable, setting up and taking down all of our gear each week. The baby shower has been a tremendous blessing for us to get started with the resources we need in order to serve the community where we are starting this new church. We are still about $25,000 short of our $75,000 goal so if you would like to give to help us get there, you can do so by clicking the "GIVE" button on our new website!

We had our first ever Fall Fest this month in the community where we are planting the church. We actually held the event at The Summit which is the former Taylor University Fort Wayne (my old college). We had so much fun hanging out with the neighbors from the community and getting to know each other. We had somewhere around 800 people attend the event which was fantastic considering we didn't pay for any marketing or promotion. We simply got the word out through the neighborhoods and the schools, and we ended up with a fantastic turnout. It was a great first impression for us before we launch our church. I've included a few photos below from the event, but you can see more pictures and stay up to date with our church by liking our Facebook page.

We still have a lot to do before November 13. We still need a truck to haul our trailer. We still need a place to store the trailer through the week. We still need another $25,000 to purchase more equipment. We still need an office/community space to use throughout the week. And the list goes on and on. Even though we have a lot of big details that need to be worked out, I can honestly say that I'm not worried about it. God has come through every single step of the way and he will continue to do so as we move forward. I'm holding on to the promise from Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

With that said, keep us in your prayers as we approach the launch of a new church in the south side of Fort Wayne that will bring people to Christ, that will build them up in their faith, and that will send them out to ministry and mission. We love you all!

P.S. you are all invited to join us on launch Sunday - November 13 at 10:30am at the City Life Center. 3701 S. Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46807. We'll save a seat for you!
