Church Plant Update: November 2016

We launched! It actually happened. And it was awesome. Here are some photos from our very first Sunday at Pine Hills City Church.

We had a total of 343 people come to our launch Sunday. A lot of those people were supporters, but there were also a lot of people from the community where we planted the church. It was such a good day.

Here's the best part. We are just getting started. Launching the church can feel like the completion of something, and in some ways it is. We worked so hard for so long to get to this day. We had one goal for the last 11 months and that was to launch a new church. But on the other hand, it's the birth of something brand new. As of Sunday, November 13, 2016 a brand new church has been born in the city of Fort Wayne. I'm convinced that this church is going to make a huge impact on the community and the entire city for the kingdom of God.

At this point we are now two weeks in. We had 213 people show up for our second Sunday. The most exciting part about this week was that the majority of the people who were there are from the community. We started a series called "For The City" this Sunday, talking about what it means for us to be a church that is for the city. That's our hope. That's our heart. To be a church for the city.

Our vision statement is: To see the city of Fort Wayne completely transformed by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

This means that our vision isn't for us. It's not about our church. It's about the people around us. It's about the community around us. It's about the city in which we are planted. Jeremiah 29:7 says "Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."

This is what we are about. We want to see Jesus change the city. We want the city of Fort Wayne to be a better place because our church is here. That is our aim.

One last highlight from this month is that News Channel 15 came out to do a story on our new church. Here's a link to the story if you want to check it out.
